Jimmy sees this as a betrayal of their perfect way of life, and over the course of a night full of drinks, drugs and women, the two men engage in a classic, humorous battle of wills as James prepares to enter the real world and Jimmy falls deeper and deeper into his world of illness, isolation, madness, and make-believe.
Documentary Feature/Special Screenings
American Teacher closely follows the stories of four teachers living and working in disparate urban and rural areas across the country. The film balances the personal stories of each character with a mixture of interviews and animation, each highlighting the big sacrifices made by our nation's teachers, and how these sacrifices force many of our greatest teachers out of the profession. Join the filmmakers of Teached and American Teacher for discussions on the state of the American education system, Friday, November 11 at Native Sons Hall.

Narrative Feature/Sneak Previews
Against the backdrop of a child abduction case, we follow five days in the lives of: a single parent detective assigned to the case; her best friend whose determination to get pregnant keeps her from confronting her husband"s infidelity; a school teacher and his obsession with the missing child that pushes him to the edge of vigilantism; a beat cop grieving over the violent death of his wife; a recovering addict and her wheel-chair-bound brother preparing for the LA marathon; and a self-loathing African American TV writer's search for love. Honest and real throughout, some scenes - including the opening - may be a little more "real" than some viewers are accustomed to; but the payoff more than makes up for any temporary discomfort. Answers to Nothing presents a captivating web of intertwining stories exploring the bad in the best of us and the good in the worst of us. Documentary Feature/U.S. Documentary Competition
Becoming Santa is the story of one man entering the culture and character of Santa Claus for a single season. We follow Jack as he bleaches his hair, goes to Santa School and tries to do everything that Santa is asked to do. He works as a sidewalk Santa, does home visits, a Polar Express Train and a parade. Along the way, Jack collects children's wishes, learns about the benefits of belief, the history and origin of Santa and the ordinary people keeping the Santa spirit alive.
Narrative Feature/The Lounge
Duke White (Harvey Keitel) has decided to end his life. And even though they don't know it yet, Duke's oldest sons are dying themselves. But Duke's never done anything the easy way and the apples haven't fallen far from the tree. The brothers can't even make it through their father's funeral without a brawl and that's only the beginning. Reunited in the town of Niagara Falls, brothers Nuts, Cal, and Jacob approach their impending doom as differently as they've approached their lives. Disgraced boxer Nuts, played by Jason Jones ( The Daily Show, Phil the Alien ) prepares to fight one last fight. Ladies man Cal (Scott Caan) decides it's finally time to tie the knot but makes a dubious choice for his bride. And Jacob, the only responsible one, sets out to achieve his bucket list in 24 hours. Fast-paced and irreverent, A Beginner's Guide to Endings is a stylized comedy about the trials and tribulations (but mostly the trials) of family and coming to terms with one's mortality.
